Roscrea Homestead - Premier Homestead Accommodation
Few of us are lucky enough to call this beautiful region home – most of us are probably urban, likely rushed, stressed, harried and tired. Sometimes we just need a place like this to recharge our batteries for a time. We will tell you upfront - when you’re at the property you just don’t want to leave.
Sure, there are lots of things you can do during your stay; you can enjoy fishing or picnicking on the river; visiting surrounding historic towns such as Dungog, Paterson or Morpeth; walking in the nearby World Heritage listed Barrington Tops National Park; taking a BBQ lunch to Chichester Dam or exploring Australia’s famous Hunter Valley wine district.
However – we want to be honest and tell you that there’s something so magical about being there that you won’t even want to go to the shops for food! Originally built as a getaway for RM Williams Chief Executive Group – it is now available to anyone needing to dip their toe into a place that soothes the soul.
Perfect for families and friends to stay for holidays or just the weekend, 5 rooms have a private bathroom, which is essential for communal stays. Importantly – there is plenty to keep the kids entertained (and you in peace!).
There is a swimming pool, a cubby house, a media/playroom – and not least wide-open spaces, fresh country air and nature.
If peace and solitude is what you are seeking – well, we have that in spades. The energy of the place is such that you will immediately and arrestingly feel healed and nurtured.
Accommodation and Features:
Our beautiful homestead is everything your mind runs to when you think about a country escape. Fully renovated, the property can sleep up to 12 guests with all bedrooms opening onto the generous wrap-around verandah.
The main homestead sleeps 8, featuring 4 large bedrooms (3 queen and 1 twin) each with their own bathroom. Along the verandah there are 2 lovely extra queen bedrooms with ensuites to accommodate a further 4 guests, available at an additional cost. NB: The 5th & 6th bedroom are only available for groups of over 8 guests.
The home is luxuriously yet comfortably furnished and features;
a separate rumpus/TV room, laundry and large return verandahs with expansive rural views. Superbly equipped, the large country-style gourmet kitchen is fully equipped with all the mod cons you expect – new appliances, including huge fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee machine (BYO coffee beans), dishwasher and Smeg cooktop and oven. The lounge/dining area is complete with comfortable lounge and armchairs, a large dining table and combustion fire.
Location:
Roscrea Homestead is located about 5km from the village of Clarence Town and 25km from Dungog. It is approximately 2 hours from Sydney, 45 minutes from Newcastle and the Hunter Valley vineyards. Limousine, coach, or helicopter transport from Newcastle airport, to and from the Hunter Valley vineyards and concerts can be arranged. Please discuss your requirements at time of booking.
Added Bonus:
Every reservation at Roscrea will be afforded a 5pm late check out free of charge (subject to availability in terms of same-day incoming bookings). That's right! As long as we are not booked for an arrival on your departure day, your group can enjoy this beautiful space up until 5pm on the day of your departure (availability can only be confirmed 1 day prior to departure). Miss the traffic heading home and really make the most of your stay.
Important note for party planners:
Unfortunately this is not the property for you. This home located in a quiet neighbourhood, so a hens/bucks/schoolies type celebration is not appropriate. We can easily determine if the house rule of “No parties or events” is disrespected, and this means additional charges and/or eviction will apply, which everyone wants to avoid. If you are unsure, please enquire before booking.

How We Price: The booking price is based on a minimum number of guests. Any guests above this number are chargeable on a per person/per night rate. The system will automatically calculate the correct rate when you enter the required number of guests. Reductions in guest numbers are non-refundable.
Arrival Details: Access to the property is made easy for you. We will send you an access code just before 2pm on your arrival day via SMS and you will use this code for the duration of your stay.
Linen: 1 set of full bed linens and 1 bath towel per person are supplied. Guests may wish to bring extra towels depending on the length of their stay. Pool/Lake/Beach towels are BYO
Guest Amenities: We are Eco-Friendly - to help reduce wastage, we supply a single bottle of 3in1 shampoo/conditioner/body wash in all showers. In addition, guests are advised to bring their own personal preferred bathroom products/amenities and free WIFI.
Wifi is provided complimentary on behalf of the owner. It is intended to be used in an appropriate manner by all guests. As the service is provided by an external 3rd party, Weekenda cannot and do not guarantee the speed or efficacy of this property's wifi connection nor do we pay any compensation for interruption of service for any reason.
Pools: If the property has a Swimming Pool then it will be opened for swimming for the start of the NSW September School Holidays and closed and Winterised immediately after the NSW Easter School Holidays have been completed.
Fires and Firewood: Internal wood fireplaces and outdoor fire pits only operate after the NSW Easter School Holidays up to before the NSW September School Holidays in line with NSW state fire restrictions. Please note: we will normally supply enough firewood, kindling & fire-starters for between 1-2 nights of your stay. For guests wishing to have additional fires, we suggest BYO Firewood, Kindling, and Starters which can be easily purchased from the local service stations.
No Party Policy: All reservations operate under a Strict No-Party & Non-Excessive Noise Policy as prescribed in the NSW Short-Term Letting Legislation and Local Council Laws. This property is in a Residential Area. Failure to comply can put the security bond into jeopardy and may lead to police-assisted eviction and/or extra charges being levied. We hate to have to note this but the reality is that so far this year we have had to evict 3 groups for overstacking/bad/anti-social behavior.
Extra Guests / Visitors: The number of people nominated on your booking is the maximum number of people that are allowed to be on the property at any one time, including visitors. Visitors may be requested and if approved must be approved in writing with Weekenda staff. Simply put, if Mum and Dad want to come over for a BBQ then we are likely to approve. If 10 extra people want to stop by we are unlikely to approve, which could put your booking at risk. We will always try to be reasonable with reasonable people within property constraints and House Rules.
Cameras and Noise Monitoring: Please note that it is highly likely that we have installed a WiFi Security Camera at the Front Entrance (and sometimes rear of the property) We are progressively rolling these out through every property in 2022/2023
Guest Registration / ID Check : Weekenda requires every guest to complete and sign an electronic guest registration prior to arrival which will ask for photo ID i.e. a copy of your Drivers Licence or Passport. The primary booker will also be required to complete a list with the guests names and actual mobile numbers. In the event we are unable to reach the primary booker, it is very important we can get a hold of other guests. These documents will be deleted after your departure. Access Codes are only released to Registered and Verified Guests.
Critical Update: Due to an unprecedented influx of fraudulent bookings, we are forced to impose a policy that protects our clients, industry and community against those attempting to commit fraud and theft. Any booking made within 5 days of arrival is required to provide a photo of a valid credit card in the same full name of the primary guest to match the supplied identification document. Failure of these documents matching will result in the booking being cancelled and all funds processed returned to the original card assumed as stolen and thus a fraudulent transaction. We trust we have our honest and genuine customers understanding this policy is in place to protect all parties.
Insurance: As always, but ever so more due to recent times, we strongly encourage any holidaymakers to obtain a very inexpensive 3rd Party Domestic Travel Insurance Policy to cover you for all manners of matters which may restrict travel. This is particularly helpful for things like Hunter Valley Concert cancellations, Covid or Medical and Other Emergencies for which we don't provide refunds, and anything which falls under our standard Terms & Conditions irrespective of the reason. We suggest reviewing policies with 'Cover-More' or 'Travel Insurance Direct' or 'Insureandgo'

I really can’t fault Roscrea Homestead! I don’t think the photos really do the place justice. We endured rain most of the weekend but the house was perfectly setup for the weather! We cooked together in the enormous kitchen and enjoyed dinners outside in the breezeway. The pool was the perfect temperature when the rain had subsided. Seeing the cows strolling past in the paddocks was magic! We’ll definitely be back to this extremely well appointed and simply stunning home!

This is a great house, very spacious, comfortable, super clean and well stocked. The kitchen had good appliances and everything you may need. Grear swimming pool for adults and kids alike, rumpus room ans verandah. Awesome sunsets, privacy, rest and relaxation.

Beautiful property that's clearly been a home for several years and not set up as a holiday rental. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is fully equipped, the outdoor entertaining area is genius and the scenery is breathtaking. This is a wonderful place for families or groups of friends to stay together and enjoy each others company in an amazing setting.

The house is the perfect size for our sewing girls week away. All having our own bedroom and bathroom is a real treat. The dining room and lounge room is large enough to sit wherever we want but still be part of the group. The kitchen is well appointed and having a separate outdoor eating area and television room is great. Thank you again for a wonderful venue for our week of friendship.

Roscrea Homestead was a wonderful place for our family to stay for a 3 nights. There was plenty of room for everyone including fantastic outdoor areas and an amazing rumpus room where our 4 year old grandson could enjoy DVD’s. The huge country kitchen provided everything we needed for a weekend of cooking and enjoying food. The outdoor fire allowed us to enjoy evenings outside playing board games and cards. The ensuite in every bedroom ensured that everyone was comfortable and had privacy.

My family and I spent an amazing week at Roscrea Homestead. What an amazing property. The kids had so much fun in the pool and the cubby while the adults lazed on the wrap around verandah. There were 12 of us in total and the homestead was big enough to provide privacy if needed. Ensuite to all but 1 of the 6 bedrooms was a bonus. Although I booked through Air bnb the staff at Weekenda were fantastic throughout the whole process with emails and texts regarding check in and checkout and were prompt in responding to any queries. This is the perfect house for groups, stunning views!
We were a group of families with our young children. This was the perfect house as each family had their own bathroom. We enjoyed the lawn, the breathtaking views, the well equipped kitchen and the multiple gathering spaces. The location is stunning. We had the best time and wish we could have stayed longer, but grateful for the late check out time. Hoping to book again soon.
